Four stabbed outside of 73 Tremont

Boston Police have confirmed that four individuals, including at least two males, were stabbed today between 1 Beacon St. and 73 Tremont St., across from the Omni Parker Hotel, leaving three in stable condition and one in critical condition.

“Approximately 1:45 p.m. today, officers received a call to 1 Beacon Street for several individuals stabbed,” said Superintendent Bruce Holloway of the Boston Police Department. “On arrival, officers found three individuals who had been stabbed. In further investigation we’ve determined that there’s a fourth person who was stabbed.”

According to Superintendent Holloway, investigation determined that the victims had been attending a court hearing for a homicide case in Superior Court.

“It appears all the stabbings took place right here,” he said. Another officer on the scene commented that one of the individuals had been picked up by a friend in a green Buick with intention of transporting them to the hospital, but were stopped on Massachusetts Avenue before they could reach it. A second crime scene was set up at that location.

According to Suffolk Vice President of Marketing and Communications Greg Gaitlin, text message and phone calls were issued through Suffolk’s alert system. At around 2:46 p.m., the first text warned all to “please be aware of your surroundings.”

“The safety of our students and employees is paramount,” said Gaitlin. “The University sent out a safety alert to our entire community informing them of the incident. Boston Police reported that it did not involve any Suffolk students or employees, and we alerted our community to that as well.”

Victims are said to have been taken to local hospitals.
